Artist's Description

This is a Semipalmated Sandpiper. These bird breed up in northern Canada and are a common migrant in eastern and central Canada and United States.

This photograph was taken at Dekorte Park which is located in New Jersey by New York City. Dekorte Park has a series of trails that you can walk out on and observe the birds on the water. I walked out and sat down at the edge of the trail and waited for a group of Sandpipers to work their way over to where I was. This picture was taken right when they were next to me. This sandpiper had just landed right in front of me, and started feeding.

I have used my vast experience of birdwatching to transition to photographing birds in their natural habitat and trying to show off each birds personalities. Aside from photographing birds, I also photograph nature and wild animals but have a focus on birds. All the animals and birds that I photograph are wild. Any animal I photograph I try to put as little stress on the animal as possible, if I sense or see that the animal knows that I am there and is not pleased by my presence than I leave the area. Thank you for stopping by, if you like what you see I have a personal website that can be found here : http://james-petersen.artistwebsites.com/. Thank you and have a...
