A beautiful photograph, I think it was her gift to you for your kindness to allow them to continue foraging without disturbing them.

Artist's Description

This is a Purple Sandpiper, an uncommon winter bird anywhere on the East Coast and breeding in Eastern Canada. Although at certain spots along the east coast they are a locally common such as at Barnegat Light State Park, in NJ.

Taken at Barnegat Light State Park in New Jersey, I sat down and waited for a group of these sandpipers to work their way towards me on the jetty. This is a capture of one that had worked its way down to me and was feeding while I took pictures of it. Once I had finished, I waited for them to move further down the Jetty before leaving to avoid scaring them.

About James Petersen

James Petersen

I am James Petersen and I have been birdwatching for over 5 years. I have used my vast experience of birdwatching to transition to photographing birds in their natural habitat and trying to show off each birds personalities. Aside from photographing birds, I also photograph nature and wild animals but have a focus on birds. All the animals and birds that I photograph are wild. Any animal I photograph I try to put as little stress on the animal as possible, if I sense or see that the animal knows that I am there and is not pleased by my presence than I leave the area. Thank you for stopping by, if you like what you see I have a personal website that can be found here : http://james-petersen.artistwebsites.com/. Thank you and have a...
