I noticed this pair of Hawaiian Coots resting on the water while I was birding and so I got a spot and started to observe them. In the process of observing them, this individual swam right by me and decided to stretch his wings right as I was taking pictures. I was lucky enough to capture this guy mid stretch.
I am James Petersen and I have been birdwatching for over 5 years. I have used my vast experience of birdwatching to transition to photographing birds in their natural habitat and trying to show off each birds personalities. Aside from photographing birds, I also photograph nature and wild animals but have a focus on birds. All the animals and birds that I photograph are wild. Any animal I photograph I try to put as little stress on the animal as possible, if I sense or see that the animal knows that I am there and is not pleased by my presence than I leave the area.
